Well that's a wrap on our club Audax Series for 2023 with all 7 audaxes now completed.
The new route on the 175km Audax back in June seemed to work well, passing through Longleat safari park on our way to Sherborne for an enjoyable lunch stop. The damp morning weather gave way to a dry afternoon which helped lift spirits on the return leg. The 200km Fish and Chip Audax out to Weston-super-Mare was an even damper affair, with everyone getting soggy at some point.
Final results for the Audax Series are listed in the table below. Medals will be presented at the club's annual awards night at the end of the season for total distances ridden over 4+ audaxes. Bronze for more than 350km, Silver for more than 500km and Gold for more than 750km.
Congratulations to this year's Gold Medal winners: Sue Crane, Ange Dunford, Paul Freegard, David Glass, Sukie Headley, Sheni Jiwa, Tom Laing and Dylan Spencer.
Our Silver Medal winners are Rachel Clarkson, Grant Davis, James Ecclestone, Neil Lewis, John Raftery and Stewart Smith.
Finally our Bronze Medal winners are Claire Brady, Rich Buckley, David English, Mike Gibbons, Linda Hitchcox, Mark Otridge, Stephen Richardson, Sandra Rouse and Steve Wallis.
Well done to everyone who has completed the Audax rides this year, especially if you managed to push your distance further and upped your medal level from last year as some of you have succeeded in doing.

Now you've built up your ride distance look out for our monthly Challenge Rides we've planned for the rest of the summer. On 29th July we're going to Huff and Puff to Uff, an old 80 mile route we've not done for a few years. On 27th August we're going Round the Block on our classic 200km route. Finally, on 9th September, we've picked another old 100 mile route along the Wylye Valley. Route details will be added to the club calendar nearer the time.
